CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 2000

Advanced Photonix, Inc.(R) (ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) A relational DBMS from Sybase that runs on Windows NT/2000, Linux and a variety of Unix platforms. ASE is a comprehensive and robust data management product with a long history dating back to the late 1980s. :API), a leading supplier of innovative, silicon-based electro-optical products and technology solutions to a worldwide OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  customer base, announced that it has recently introduced a smaller, lower cost detector to its current line of Large Area Avalanche Photodiodes (LAAPDs).

The new 581 Series employs a 3 mm diameter LAAPD and offers faster response and lower dark current than the company's larger LAAPDs, while preserving all of the other LAAPD performance benefits, including high gain, superior quantum efficiency, wide spectral response The variable output of a light-sensitive device that is based on the color of the light it perceives.  and large dynamic range. The 581 Series also includes a built-in temperature monitor which enables the user to stabilize the detector's responsivity over a wide range of ambient temperatures and signal levels.
