It is estimated that about five million patients annually in the U.S. require a more advanced diagnostic breast imaging that conventional x-ray mammography to optimize treatment of their disease." Sandra Rhoden, M.D., UTMB director of breast imaging in the department of radiology, said: "We anticipate the new MRI system will have a meaningful impact on our evaluation of certain patients, in large part because of its availability in our Breast Imaging Center.
