Advanced Medical signs agreements with Premier Inc. and Criticare Systems Inc.


SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 1997--Solidifying its promise to implement strategic growth initiatives, Advanced Medical Inc. (ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) A relational DBMS from Sybase that runs on Windows NT/2000, Linux and a variety of Unix platforms. ASE is a comprehensive and robust data management product with a long history dating back to the late 1980s. :AMA (Automatic Message Accounting) The recording and reporting of telephone calls within a telephone system. Under a separate agreement, Advanced Medical will have exclusive product distribution rights in the U.S. hospital market and in all Canadian markets. Criticare will sell the products only in the U.S. alternate site markets.

"This contract represents an exciting opportunity for Advanced Medical and Premier to join forces, providing over 1,800 Premier owners and affiliates across the U.S. the finest-quality thermometry products, with a commitment to reducing the cost of care," said William J. Part of Premier's purchasing commitment program, the five-year agreement with Advanced Medical features savings for Premier hospitals and systems which agree to buy 80 percent of their thermometry needs under this agreement. Pricing was effective Jan. 1, 1997. Other details were not disclosed.

Group purchasing of supplies, pharmaceuticals and equipment is one of the major programs Premier operates to support owners' and affiliates' efforts to hold down health-care costs, improve quality and stay ahead of advances in clinical knowledge, technology and market changes such as managed care. Premier's total annual group purchasing volume is estimated at $10 billion.

Supply and distribution agreement with Criticare Systems Inc.

The agreement with Criticare Systems Inc. combines Criticare's expertise in the design and development of multiparameter patient monitors with the thermometry expertise and extensive U.S. and Canadian sales network established through the recent merger of Advanced Medical's IMED IMED International Medical Education Directory  Corp. subsidiary with IVAC IVAC Islington Voluntary Action Council (England, UK)

Advanced Medical is currently partnering with Criticare in the development of several products which combine IVAC's electronic thermometry technology into key Criticare patient monitoring systems. The signing of this supply and distribution agreement initiates the next step in bringing these new products to the market and provides Advanced Medical with a broader range of patient monitors.
