Advanced Embedded Systems Introduces Wireless Universal Sensor Controller; New RMT10 Enables Versatile Sensor Monitoring, Wirelessly At an Affordable Price.

Business Editors

TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 17, 2000

Advanced Embedded Systems, Inc. (AES), is now shipping its powerful RMT10(TM) remote data logger/sensor controller.

The RMT10 is a complete system that enables wireless monitoring and control of sensors in industrial settings. It accepts a wide variety of standard sensor inputs, provides A/D conversion, and can either store data or transmit over a two-way wireless RS232 RS232 - Recommended Standard 232 (computer serial interface, IEEE; usually written RS-232) connection.

Adding to its convenience and affordability, the RMT10 can withstand harsh surroundings thanks to its water-resistant NEMA-4 enclosure. Customers in most environments can simply connect their sensing transducer to the RMT's cable harness and enter the appropriate scale for their respective transducer. A wireless base station then communicates with the remote device, which connects to a standard PC over the RS232 serial port. An LCD 8x2 alphanumeric display and LED indicators exhibit data such as onboard temperature, power supply voltage, and input/output status through the clear plastic case.

The RMT10 incorporates an AeroComm ConnexRF(TM) transceiver module, enabling point-to-multipoint wireless communication in the license-free 2.4GHz band. The ConnexRF transceiver employs complex frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology for high resistance to interference, providing reliable wireless communication over hundreds of feet indoors and across several miles line-of-sight. Wireless connectivity allows for use in hostile areas, simplifies installation, reduces cost and provides mobility.

"The RMT10 was designed as an all-in-one solution easy enough for RF novices to use," said Bill Conley, Founder and President of AES. "Process engineers can connect virtually any type of sensor input using industry standard formats like 4-20ma, 0-20ma, 0-10vdc, 0-5vdc, 1-5vdc or other types of inputs including counters, RPM and contact closures. We're convinced it's the most cost-efficient, ready-to-use answer to wireless industrial control."

Applications for the RMT10 include monitoring oil wells, water pumps, remote cell/radio repeater sites, solar cell, load cell, pressure, voltage, current, temperature, humidity, etc. The product is available directly from Advanced Embedded Systems (www.advancedembedded.com).

Advanced Embedded Systems provides engineering consulting as well as finished products for the sensor and wireless industry. AES specializes in product designs incorporating embedded processors and RF communication. Formed in 1994, AES is Microchip Certified and is approved as an AeroComm A.C.E. third-party RF design source. Visit www.advancedembedded.com. AeroComm has focused on creating high-range low-cost OEM RF solutions since its founding in 1990. The company was the first manufacturer to gain FCC approval for 2.4 GHz spread spectrum transceivers in 1994, and in 1996 its technical focus became frequency hopping for reduced cost, lower power consumption, higher interference immunity and smaller size. Today AeroComm's proprietary methods of implementing FHSS FHSS - Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum enable wireless applications that were previously cost-prohibitive. The ConnexRF line offers a variety of standard RF transceivers as well as custom solutions for major OEMs. Visit www.aerocomm.com.
