Advanced Computer Communications and Ubiquity Software Limited unveil CTI desktop applications for small office/home office Internetworking.

(ACC See adaptive cruise control. ) and Ubiquity Software Limited, of the United Kingdom, Tuesday announced the world's first desktop computer telephony See CTI, VoIP and IP telephony.

Computer Telephony - Computer Telephone Integration
 software designed to control and configure a remote access router A network device used to connect remote sites via private lines or public carriers. The router is required at both ends and provides the protocol conversion between the internal network (LAN) and the external network (WAN). See remote access concentrator and remote access server. , specifically ACC's Congo Voice Router.

ACC and Ubiquity introduce several unprecedented features as enhancements to ACC's popular Web Wizard application which allows Congo Voice Router users to install and configure the router within minutes from a browser running on a personal computer.

From Web Wizard's graphical interface See GUI. , users can now access an on-line "address book" and initiate and receive phone calls to the POTS ports on the Congo Voice Router -- all via a point-and-click desktop interface.

Additionally, the manual dial feature allows users to initiate phone calls by dialing phone numbers from a graphical keyboard and clicking the "dial" button. Incoming call notification identifies the incoming caller by displaying a pop-up window in business card format.

Call management and call logging capabilities are also available, allowing users to control and track ISDN ISDN

 usage. The call control features allow users to limit on-line connection times so there are no surprises when the telephone bill arrives.

To further save on phone charges, users can program their ISDN usage based on time of day; for example, Congo Voice Router can be programmed to disable calls and data transfers over the weekend when the office is empty or program data transfers to occur only during reduced tariff periods. Users can also view a personal call history to preview their ISDN charges.

The software is based on JAVA and runs in any operating system environment with a compliant browser or JAVA virtual machine A Java interpreter. It provides a set of highly intuitive interface tools to implement telephony services directly from the Web browser The program that serves as your front end to the Web on the Internet. In order to view a site, you type its address (URL) into the browser's Location field; for example, www.computerlanguage.com, and the home page of that site is downloaded to you.  using the Congo Voice Router.

Future releases will offer SQL SQL
