Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2001

Advanced Communications Technologies Inc (OTCBB OTCBB

See OTC Bulletin Board (OTCBB).
:ADVC ADVC Analog to Digital Video Converter ) (ACT-US) today announced that technical papers prepared by representatives of the company's engineering team have been chosen for presentation at both the 3G Technical Strategies Conference in Geneva Geneva, canton and city, Switzerland
Geneva (jənē`və), Fr. Genève, canton (1990 pop. 373,019), 109 sq mi (282 sq km), SW Switzerland, surrounding the southwest tip of the Lake of Geneva.
, Switzerland (April 3 rd-5th) and the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  sponsored 2001 International Conference on Third Generation (3G) Wireless and Beyond in San Francisco, USA (May 30th-June 2nd).

The selection of ACT engineers to present these leading edge papers is a powerful confirmation from the Global Communications Industry of ACT's leadership status in the 3G and wireless communications marketplace.

ACT's initial presentation is scheduled for Day Two of the 3G Technical Strategies Conference and is entitled `Achieving the Optimum Base Transceiver Station/Node B architecture for Single/Multiple Air Interface for 2G to 3G Migration'. To be presented by Paul Burns, ACT's DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive  team Leader, the paper discusses the technical and strategic advantages of the SpectruCell hardware for the development of 3G software defined radio A wireless terminal (phone, PDA, etc.) that is reconfigurable via software. It enables wireless devices to be easily updated to new or later versions of the air interface and allows multiple interfaces to be supported.  equipment.

The 3G Technical Strategies Conference is purported to be the most focused forum on 3G migration strategies, network planning and UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) The GSM implementation of the 3G wireless phone system. Part of IMT-2000, UMTS provides service in the 2 GHz band and offers global roaming and personalized features.  technologies and will host pioneers of third generation technologies such as Hutchison Telecom's Professor Ed Candy.

The company's second paper entitled `Cellular BTS BTS - Bug Tracking System  SDR See software defined radio.  Framework' will be presented at the 2001 International Conference on Third Generation Wireless and Beyond by David Lynnes, ACT's Principal Engineer. The paper will elaborate on the impact of SpectruCell's architecture on the direction of 3G cellular and software defined radios.

The Third Generation Wireless and Beyond Conference is regarded as having the world's most authoritative technical collections on 3G/4G innovations as well as system/network/application design. There will be over 1000 participants involved in the in-depth discussions on these emerging technologies and business developments.

Importantly, selected papers from the Conference proceedings will be converted to IEEE or ACM (Association for Computing Machinery, New York, www.acm.org) A membership organization founded in 1947 dedicated to advancing the arts and sciences of information processing. In addition to awards and publications, ACM also maintains special interest groups (SIGs) in the computer field.  Journals/Magazines as Special Issues on Next Generation Wireless Communications. This will potentially provide further venues for discussion of ACT's solutions for second and third generation networks.

"The fact that ACT has been chosen to present papers on the SpectruCell operating system for 3G/4G is an important validation of the SpectruCell technology from the global communications community," said Roger May, Chairman of ACT-US. "The ability to demonstrate both our technical competency in software defined radio and our leading edge technology to a cross-section of international mobile communications leaders is a major coup for ACT. The acceptance of these papers has shown that we have highly topical information that the industry wants to hear and we look to forward to increasing our presence at these events in the lead up to the commercialisation of the SpectruCell base station."

Full copies of these papers will be made available on the company's web-site following their presentation at the particular conference.

Revised Annual General Meeting Date

ACT wishes to advise investors that due to circumstances beyond its control the company's annual general meeting will now be held on Monday, May 14, 2001. A proxy form and details of the meeting location will be made available within the next week.

About Advanced Communications Technologies

Advanced Communications Technologies is a leader in the field of Software Defined Radio that has developed a proprietary, multiple-protocol wireless base-station -- SpectruCell. Through eliminating the use of Qualcomm (Nasdaq:QCOM QCOM Qualcomm, Inc. (stock symbol) ) chipsets, protocol specific hardware and by conducting all signal processing in software, SpectruCell provides for simultaneous support of multiple mobile communications protocols (CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band. , WCDMA (Wideband CDMA) A 3G high-speed digital data service provided by cellular carriers that use the TDMA or GSM technology worldwide, including AT&T (formerly Cingular) and T-Mobile in the U.S. , UMTS, GSM & 3G) all in the same base station. Support for additional protocols is achieved through the uploading of additional software modules. By implementing the company's SpectruCell technology network providers will be able to maintain service to their existing customer base and preserve the full utilization of their existing network infrastructure while at the same time securing a highly flexible migration path for evolving 3G-based protocols such as WCDMA and UMTS. SpectruCell is complemented by several other wireless technologies currently under development in Australia. Advanced Communication Technologies Inc. plans to market these products throughout North, South and Central America.
