. In his keynote presentation on Friday, June 9th, at 9:45 a.m., Michael D. West Dr. Michael D. West is an entrepreneurial scientist and visionary [1] [2] [3] [4] who has led progress in anti-aging and biotechnology.

He is CEO of BioTime, Inc.
, Ph.D., Chairman, President and Chief Scientific Officer, will discuss strategies for the accelerated development of therapeutics from human embryonic stem cells Embryonic stem cells (ES cells) are stem cells derived from the inner cell mass of an early stage embryo known as a blastocyst. Human embryos reach the blastocyst stage 4-5 days post fertilization, at which time they consist of 50-150 cells.

ES cells are pluripotent.
. Dr. West will also discuss the Company's ACTCellerate technology platform which was unveiled earlier this week at the European Stem Cells stem cells, unspecialized human or animal cells that can produce mature specialized body cells and at the same time replicate themselves. Embryonic stem cells are derived from a blastocyst (the blastula typical of placental mammals; see embryo), which is very young  & Regenerative Medicine Conference 2006 in London, and show data on the first new differentiated cells derived using the technology, designated ACTC60.

Human embryonic stem cells (hESC) are the first cells cultured in the laboratory capable of becoming every cell type in the human body. Therefore, the emerging field of regenerative medicine holds great promise for the treatment of many currently untreatable Un`treat´a`ble

diseases. Despite that potential, researchers have not previously demonstrated efficient means of producing a large array of therapeutically-useful cell types in a pure and scalable form that allows them to be tested for potential human therapeutic use. The Company's proprietary ACTCellerate platform was invented by the Company as a means of accelerating the differentiation of cells from human embryonic stem cells, thereby expanding potential products made from embryonic stem cell technology.

Dr. West's presentation will be available for viewing at the Company's web site http://www.advancedcell.com/conference-presentations/.
