) today announced that Alan C. Shapiro, Ph.D., has been elected to serve as a member of the Company's Board of Directors effective August 1, 2005. Dr. Shapiro will serve as Chair of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Nominating Committee and Compensation Committee.

Dr. Shapiro brings more than 30 years' experience in corporate and international financial management to Advanced Cell Technology. Dr. Shapiro is currently the Ivadelle and Theodore Johnson Professor of Banking and Finance at the University of Southern California The U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges", also designating it as one of the "most selective universities" for admitting 8,634 of the almost 34,000 who applied for freshman admission , where he previously served as the Chairman of the Department of Finance and Business Economics, Marshall School of Business The Marshall School of Business (also known as USC Marshall School of Business) is the business school at the University of Southern California.
