Advanced Cell Technology Announces Exclusive License of Key Intellectual Property Portfolio on Somatic Cell Reprogramming Technology.

ALAMEDA, Calif -- Advanced Cell Technology, Inc. (OTCBB:ACTC) announced today that it has exclusively licensed a key intellectual property portfolio in regard to somatic cell reprogramming from TranXenoGen, Inc., Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Advanced Cell Technology believes that the filing date and scope of the intellectual property on this important reprogramming technology could prove to be strategically significant in defining the somatic cell reprogramming patent landscape.

The inventions described in the intellectual property portfolio, which are covered by issued and pending patents, cover techniques for the reprogramming of somatic cell nuclei, including the use of extracts for the reprogramming of somatic cell nuclei, for the generation of cloned and/or transgenic animals and for the reprogramming of human cells. We believe that the filing date of February 3rd, 1993 is the earliest patent filing covering somatic cell nuclear transfer technology.
