Advance Realty Group's Harrison MetroCentre, the centerpiece of Harrison's rebirth as a major New Jersey city, took another step forward as Turner Construction and Mazzocchi Wrecking began demolition of the site's largest structure, the Guyon General Piping Company Building.

Mazzocchi Wrecking uses a Long Reach Device with a pulverizer head to tear off the building's brick outer walls before beginning to cut apart the building's steel structure. Following last month's Red Bull Park groundbreaking, Harrison MetroCentre is well underway with demolition slated for completion by March 2007, followed by the start of horizontal construction. When completed, Harrison MetroCentre will feature three million square feet of mid-rise and high-rise Class A office space, 3,500 residential units, 300,000 s/f of retail space, over 10,000 decked parking spaces and the 25,000-seat Red Bull Park, new home of the New York Red Bulls Major League Soccer team. AEG is developing the stadium.
