Adtech Introduces 155.52 Mbps Frame Relay Testers; ATM Test Equipment Manufacturer Enters Frame Relay Market With Three High Speed Test Modules.

HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 1998--ATM test equipment maker Adtech, Inc. announced its entry into the Frame Relay A high-speed packet switching protocol used in wide area networks (WANs). Providing a granular service of up to DS3 speed (45 Mbps), it has become popular for LAN to LAN connections across remote distances, and services are offered by most major carriers.  market with three new test modules for its AX/4000 Broadband broadband

"Our test architecture allows us to provide testing at speeds that are currently impossible for other systems to match," said Mike Gouveia, Adtech vice-president. "Most Frame Relay testers are software-based so they simply can't respond quickly enough for continuous full-rate transmission testing. Our hardware-based testing is extremely fast, allowing us to examine every bit of every frame continuously, even at speeds up to 155.52 Mbps."

Gouveia, the purpose of high-speed design is not simply to achieve line rate frame capture. "The real reason you want faster test equipment is to be able to take as many traffic performance measurements and to generate as many traffic variations as you possibly can in real time," he said.

"One of our AX/4000 systems with eight Frame Relay modules installed can maintain over 500,000 full-rate measurements continuously in real time. This capability is far more useful to networking engineers than using software to analyze small samples of previously captured frames."

Operating in both native frame and ATM interworking (standard) interworking - Systems or components, possibly from different origins, working together to perform some task. Interworking depends crucially on standards to define the interfaces between the components.  QoS test environments, all three Frame Relay modules include a traffic generator with eight simultaneous traffic sources and eight live distribution models for generating test frames and realistic Frame Relay traffic. The Generator/Analyzer module can automatically identify up to 2,040 substreams from an incoming Frame Relay stream based on their DLCIs (identifiers).

It also analyzes every substream simultaneously with full Quality of Service (QoS) measurements and individual policing. The Generator/Duan test multiple broadband technologies broadband technology
