Adra Systems' Matrix chosen as Watervliet Arsenal's PDM standard; Matrix to manage design process at U.S. Army's weapons manufacturer.


CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 16, 1996--Adra Systems, Inc., the leader in object-based PDM (1) (Product Data Management) An information system used to manage the data for a product as it passes from engineering to manufacturing. The data includes plans, geometric models, CAD drawings, images, NC programs as well as all related project data, notes and  (product data management) software, today announced that Watervliet Arsenal The Watervliet Arsenal is an arsenal of the United States Army located in Watervliet, New York, along the Hudson River. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States, and today produces much of the artillery for the army, as well as gun tubes for cannons,  (Watervliet, N.Y.) has awarded a contract to Adra for its Matrix PDM system. The U.S. Army's heavy weapons manufacturer purchased the Matrix system, which it will use to manage its product design data, as well as consulting services.

Matrix is the only PDM solution in its class that is fully compatible with all environments within a multiplatform computer environment. The engineers at Watervliet will use Matrix to manage their SmartCam and AutoCAD files, the tooling, gauging and fixturing for NC programs which is key for designing their weaponry. Watervliet also plans to use Matrix for a future quality assurance project.

"Adra's goal is to provide Watervliet with the necessary tools for managing their design information, which we expect will greatly reduce the time necessary for tracking data," said Mason.
