This catalog catalog, descriptive list, on cards or in a book, of the contents of a library. Assurbanipal's library at Nineveh was cataloged on shelves of slate. The first known subject catalog was compiled by Callimachus at the Alexandrian Library in the 3d cent. B.C.  was issued for an exhibit of the same title being held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 2005 to January 2006. While the cover features an elaborately tattooed Marquesan man, the exhibit encompasses other arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts.  by these French Polynesians. Museum curator Kjellgren and Ivory (fine arts, Washington State U.) introduce their art forms, and early collectors (e.g., Paul Gauguin Noun 1.
