Adopting a baby spider. (The Green Thumb Gazette).

Want a house filled with spiders?

No, not the web-spinning, bug-eating kind--the green, leafy kind. Adopt one and make it grow.

You Will Need:

*An adult spider plant with baby shoots

*A small water glass

*A pot and potting soil

Directions:

1. Snip a new baby shoot, which you'll find at the end of a tube from the parent's roots. Leave an inch of stem attached.

2. Place the baby's roots in a clear glass of water. In a couple of weeks they'll be about three inches long.

3. Choose a nice pot, fill it with soil, and decorate it with baby designs (lambs, baby ducks, baby spiders, etc.). Name the baby?

4. Place the baby shoot in your pot and surround with soil. Water outside or over the sink.

5. Find a sunny spot for the baby and water once a week. Nursery rhymes and songs are nice, too.
