And the association is finding that there may be nothing more fulfilling than giving back to the community, particularly by helping children. Why we adopted a charity, As CTLA's executive director, I was tired of fielding phone calls from worthy charitable groups asking for money. I did not believe that small donations did organizations much good, and I believed that we could make a greater difference in our community if we concentrated on one charity. After interviewing several organizations, CTLA's board chose the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado. How we do it. Our main fundraising

In addition, we make a donation to the foundation in the names of our seminar speakers. Because money is not everything, I also volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I have been a board member since 1987 and have served in all officer capacities, including two years as chapter president. I have also become active in the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America in Phoenix, where I have served as chair of the national nominating committee A nominating committee is a group formed usually from inside the membership of an organization for the purpose of nominating candidates for office within the organization. It works similarly to an electoral college, the main difference being that the available candidates, either and currently serve as chair of the corporate documents committee. CTLA staff and members find their work in support of Make-A-Wish to be incredibly rewarding. I urge all associations to adopt and work closely with charities. After all, associations constantly ask their members to volunteer their time. What better example can you set than to do so yourself?
