) today announced a partnership to deliver Adobe[R] FlashCast[R] technology to more than eight million subscribers in Taiwan. The new offering is expected to deliver rich data services across the Chunghwa Telecom Not to be confused with China Telecom.

Adobe FlashCast is designed to deliver rich, customized data services through a new generation of Adobe Flash[R] Player compatible mobile applications called channels. Chunghwa Telecom subscribers will be able to access multiple channels delivering news, entertainment, weather information, and more. A set of premium channels with content from leading media brands will offer information for specific groups and demographics. Interoperability with browsers, messaging applications, and media players allow Chunghwa Telecom to leverage investments in existing data services.

 DoCoMo's FlashCast application is a great example. Since the i-channel[TM] news and daily information delivery service launched in Japan in 2005, more than 10 million mobile phone subscribers have signed up for the service (see separate press release). Subscribers receive five base channels for content--including news, weather, entertainment reports, sports and horoscopes--and are alerted to new channel updates via the standby screens of their mobile phone.
