Adobe Selects Idiom Technologies to Streamline and Automate Web Globalization; Enterprise Integration Key in Choosing Idiom WorldServer.

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2001

Idiom Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of e-business globalization globalization

solutions, today announced that Adobe Systems Adobe Systems Incorporated (pronounced a-DOE-bee IPA: /əˈdoʊbiː/) (NASDAQ: ADBE) (LSE: ABS) is an American computer software company headquartered in San Jose, California, USA.  Incorporated, the second largest PC software company in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , has selected Idiom WorldServer(TM) to manage and automate the localization Customizing software and documentation for a particular country. It includes the translation of menus and messages into the native spoken language as well as changes in the user interface to accommodate different alphabets and culture. See internationalization and l10n.  of content appearing on Adobe's international Web sites. WorldServer will enable Adobe to meet its objectives of projecting a strong, consistent worldwide brand while offering customers an online experience tailored to their location, language, culture, and business practices.

Adobe conducted a rigorous vendor selection process and identified WorldServer as the most robust and scalable solution, and the one that best meets Adobe's business and technology requirements. Adobe's international Web presence includes support for 19 countries in 17 languages. One of its most significant globalization goals is to increase customer loyalty by offering customers around the world access to key information in the language, format, and context that is most meaningful to them.

"We're very impressed with Idiom's commitment to satisfying our globalization needs, and with the success of phase one deployment," said Jim Stephens, Senior Vice President, E-Business Development at Adobe. "WorldServer is helping us to automate and streamline our Web globalization workflow, and will enable us to use our internal and external resources as efficiently as possible."

Because of its large Web site and varied customer needs, Adobe looked for an automated, infrastructure-based globalization solution that could provide both the control and the flexibility necessary to simplify Adobe's globalization processes. Prior to using WorldServer, Adobe found that more and more resources were required to ensure timely changes across all local sites and to adequately monitor and control those changes. Only WorldServer satisfied all the requirements.

Adobe was particularly impressed with the combination of WorldServer's patent-pending Business Rule Linkage(TM) technology and its unique preview mode. Using Business Rule Linkage, Adobe can establish and enforce rules about how content is to be shared across multiple sites, defining which elements of the home site can be directly translated, and which must be adapted to the local markets. WorldServer's preview mode then allows Web managers to test the fit of the localized content within the context of the Web page. Together, these capabilities enable Adobe to offer local audiences the information they need while at the same time projecting a consistent corporate look and feel on each site.

When core corporate content changes in TeamSite, WorldServer automatically notifies country managers and enters the changed elements into the globalization workflow.
