The free, Web-based curriculum offers teachers, nationwide, a powerful resource that guides students through the Web design process using a digital workflow. The curriculum's digital format also enables teachers and students to access the curriculum content from the classroom or at home. Adobe's Web Tech curriculum is a comprehensive program that supports information technology standards and teaches career skills required for students to solve real-world design industry needs. The curriculum also complies with essential academic requirements from the U.S. Department of Education's Career Cluster Information Technology Initiative and the national standards for information technology from the National Center for Emerging Technologies, and the Education Development Center. Instructional designers Jan Heck and Michelle Wild, from ID 4 the Web, collaborated with educators representing a consortium of five states (Ohio, Washington, California, Michigan, Utah, and New York) to create the curricula. The rich, project-based curricula and relevant assignments give students the Web-related skills to create effective and graphically well-designed Web sites. The Adobe Web Tech curriculum integrates the use of Adobe products across a complete Web site design project. Students use Adobe InDesign to prepare their Web site design documents, Adobe Illustrator A full-featured drawing program for Windows and Macintosh from Adobe. It provides sophisticated tracing and text manipulation capabilities as well as color separations. Included is Adobe Type Manager and a selection of Type 1 fonts. Illustrator was originally developed for the Mac in 1987 and, up until Version 7.0, which was introduced in 1997, the Mac version included more features. The Macintosh version is the most widely used drawing and composition program for the Mac platform. to create illustrations for both the design document and the Web site, Adobe GoLive Web authoring software for Windows and Macintosh from Adobe that includes numerous visual design elements, database tools and site management features. It includes the Adobe Web Workgroup Server, which offers version control. Adobe's PageMill and SiteMill were originally independent products that were absorbed into GoLive. to build the site, Adobe Photoshop to create and edit images for the site, Adobe Acrobat to disseminate site-related information, and Adobe LiveMotion Software from Adobe that is used to develop animated sequences and interface elements for Web sites. Running under Windows or the Mac, LiveMotion supports all popular Web graphics formats as well as Illustrator and native Photoshop (.PSD) files.
