Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE), the leader in network publishing, today will kick off activities at FOSE 2003, the largest information technology exposition serving the government marketplace. At the conference, the company will detail its strategy for empowering e-Government by enabling government organizations to automate the delivery of essential services to constituents, and improve the effectiveness, efficiency and security of cross-government communications.

In Adobe's keynote, President and CEO Bruce Chizen will outline Adobe's commitment to helping government efficiently deliver services to constituents; effectively collaborate across agencies and departments; and improve internal processes for managing e-government programs. Chizen will address the requirements and best practices for building services that are personalized, based on standards such as Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), and leverage existing technologies and processes. Scheduled for April 10 at 1:00 p.m. EST, Chizen also will discuss Adobe's vision for how government can continue to meet constituent needs as it deploys a common enterprise architecture.

In its exhibit (Booth 701 at the new Washington, D.C. Convention Center), demonstrations and other educational activities, Adobe will show solutions for enabling government online, cross-government communications, and efficient program administration. The company will demonstrate Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) 6 software, for streamlining document processes with Adobe PDF, announced yesterday, as well as its server technology for integrating disconnected document-based processes into the digital enterprise. Adobe also is hosting hands-on training sessions on topics such as empowering e-government today; meeting section 508 requirements; designing and deploying electronic forms; securing cross-agency communications; integrating documents and systems; creating rich content for print and web; and producing quality video for the web. In its daily educational sessions, the company will provide in-depth training on implementing XML and PDF solutions today, and best-practices sessions, including "Government Forms at Your Service," "Streamlining the FDA Approval Process," and "Talking Forms Accessible to All."

In conjunction with FOSE, Adobe also will host a policy forum April 9 on "Cross Government Communications - The Homeland Security Debate." The event will feature a lively panel discussion on the cross-government communications problem, the lack of a common national infrastructure, and the severe consequences of inaction.
