The third annual awards program honors the most talented and promising student designers, illustrators, digital filmmakers and computer artists from leading US, Canadian and British design schools.

, students can submit projects in eight categories ranging from print to photography to digital media and the Web. Five distinguished and independent design professionals, including Noreen Morioka and Alexander Gelman, will serve as judges and select winners based on overall impact, design execution and level of technical capabilities. First place winners will receive US$5,000, and a trip to Chicago to attend the awards ceremony. Additionally they will receive 10 Adobe products of their choice, have the opportunity to showcase their work, and meet with design industry professionals attending the awards event.

"Adobe created the Design Achievement Awards to honor the innovation of student designers who are embracing technology as a tool to help them fully express their creativity and realize their ideas," said Melissa Dyrdahl, senior vice president of Corporate Marketing at Adobe. "The rewards from this experience are immeasurable, giving students the opportunity to show the outside world their skills and talent while developing the expertise in industry-leading tools that will help prepare them for future careers in design."

Students will be able to submit their entries from April 1, 2003 to May 15, 2003 (see rules at www.adobe.com/education/students/adaa.html.) The entries will be judged in early June, with the finalists contacted shortly thereafter. The winners will be announced at an event on August 7, 2003 at The Art Institute of Chicago Art Institute of Chicago, museum and art school, in Grant Park, facing Michigan Ave. It was incorporated in 1879; George Armour was the first president. Since 1893 the Institute has been housed in its present building, designed in the Italian Renaissance style by .
