Admission open for Education City.


ADMISSION is open for the Qatar Foundation's Discover Education City, which will take place from November 22 to 24.

Admission teams from the universities at Qatar's Education City will be visiting secondary schools across Bahrain, meeting with students, faculty and counsellors.

A university fair will also be held on Monday at 6pm at the Diplomat Radisson SAS (1) (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, www.sas.com) A software company that specializes in data warehousing and decision support software based on the SAS System. Awareness

The programme aims to raise awareness of the academic opportunities, admissions process, financial aid and scholarship options at Education City as well as the vast resources available at Qatar Foundation The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development is a private, chartered, non-profit organization in the state of Qatar, founded in 1995 by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar. .

The event is open to all secondary school students and their parents in Bahrain, as well as school counsellors.

"Qatar Foundation and its university partners are reaching out to high school students in Bahrain to acquaint them with the world-class education they will receive at Education City," said foundation faculty and student services associate vice-president Dr Dennis Roberts.

"The programmes offered at the universities manifest a rigorous curriculum taught by top international educators and provides student engagement that deepens learning and cultivates leadership."

Education City is home to campuses of six internationally renowned universities, said Dr Roberts.

They include Virginia Commonwealth University Formed by a merger between the Richmond Professional Institute and the Medical College of Virginia in 1968, VCU has a medical school that is home to the nation's oldest organ transplant program. , Weill Cornell Medical College, Texas A&M University, Carnegie Mellon University Carnegie Mellon University, at Pittsburgh, Pa.; est. 1967 through the merger of the Carnegie Institute of Technology (founded 1900, opened 1905) and the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research (founded 1913). , the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and Northwestern University.

Representatives from the six universities as well as Qatar Foundation will be at the events explaining how the selection procedure is conducted and how applications should prepared in order to maximise opportunity for admission.

Current students and alumni will provide accounts of their Education City experiences.
