Quantum intends to initiate the study which shall include pre-engineering drawings, cash flow analysis, load factors, air quality studies and aerial shots of the island for drafting model size state of the art Liquid Natural Gas Compressor <includeonly></includeonly>A gas compressor is a mechanical device that increases the pressure of a gas by reducing its volume. Compression of a gas naturally increases its temperature. and Cogeneration plant for review and contract negotiations within 45 days. Quantum anticipates offering a ten (10) year power provider agreement with take or pay provisions, and will operate, own, monitor and maintain the facility. Quantum was contacted by ALT Energy Inc. initially regarding the Catalina Island Catalina Island: see Santa Catalina. project as the island had been operating generation facilities fueled by diesel for years. ALT Energy, the largest provider of LNG LNG (liquefied natural gas): see under natural gas. in the USA, had been contacted to help the island with its air quality issues and brought this project to QDI QDI Dictionary (File Name Extension) QDI Qualified Dividend Income QDI Quasi-Delay Insensitive QDI Quality Data Interchange for developing and implementing its power generation products and services. The officials for Catalina Island have made it clear by the end of 2000 it must take the diesel-generated facilities offline. QDI has stated that they have placed this project on a fast-track development schedule to meet the deadline for commencing the operation. QDI will be contracting with Admiral Bay Resources Inc. under a financing agreement for this project. QDI has also completed an agreement to purchase and install a one (1) megawatt cogeneration plant on behalf of ALT (Applied LNG Technologies) near Sacramento, California. The cogeneration facility will be operated using LNG supplied from ALT and the agreement between the companies will be a ten (10) year power purchase contract. QDI has requested that Admiral Bay Resources provide the financing for this project. Both companies will negotiate the terms of the financing by March 17. The cogeneration and LNG plant will operate continuously for 15 to 20 years. Build-out and commencement of operations will start in the fall of 2000.
