ESS is a Web-based expense reporting system for corporate travelers and accounting departments. ESS is licensed under the GNU Public License as open source. "This release includes the appliance installer An install program. Installers are programmed/customized by the developer to fit the application requirements. Their primary purpose is to compress the application files into one or more self-extracting files that decompress into the appropriate folders when run. They also make modifications to the Registry in the user's PC and provide post-install options such as the capability to run a program.," say Karen Chen, Adisoft's president and founder. Chen continues, "The appliance installer bundles all the components required for an expense report server into one package that is easy to install. Included are open source components for the Web server, application server, conduit, database and security. IT personnel don't have to find and install these separately anymore. This saves a lot of time and also eliminates installation errors." Appliance installers are available for Windows and Linux operating systems. ESS is an effective alternative to commercially licensed expense reporting systems and outsourced solutions. ESS provides report entry, approval routing, automatic policy checking, and credit card statement importation. A fully functional backend provides A/P and audit staff with automatic compliance checks, G/L feeds, and a reimbursement interface, as well as receipt management. ACH payment file creation is a standard feature. Reports, maintained online, can quickly be checked for compliance to corporate policy. ESS is a Web-based application which is programmed in Java, Java Server Pages (JSP), HTML and JavaScript. ESS runs under a wide variety of operating systems, servers, and databases.
