Adexa and IBM deliver planning and performance solutions to Optical Fiber Solutions.


Adexa Inc. has announced they have collaborated on a project with OFS (OFS, Norcross, GA, www.ofsbrightwave.com) A manufacturer of optical fibers and interconnect equipment. Formerly the Optical Fiber Solutions (OFS) Group of Lucent, OFS was turned into a stand-alone company acquired by Furukawa Electric in 2001.  (Optical Fiber Solutions), previously Lucent Optical, Norcross GA. The project stems from a recent marketing agreement between Adexa and IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Business Consulting Services.

IBM and Adexa, a provider of enterprise business planning solutions, teamed with OFS to develop and implement a strategy to achieve OFS performance objectives, including improving inventory management and customer service. Adexa's Enterprise Global Planning System See spreadsheet and financial planning system.  (eGPS) is designed to maximize asset utilization, minimize on-hand inventory requirements and prioritize customer service.

The Adexa eGPS solution continuously synchronizes operations with changing supply and demand patterns to help improve on-time delivery performance and customer satisfaction by minimizing cycle times. The increased enterprise performance benefits delivered by Adexa enable companies to maintain best-in-class on-time delivery ratios, and rapidly adjust operations to capitalize on Cap´i`tal`ize on`

Under the marketing agreement, Adexa and IBM Business Consulting Services will deliver comprehensive supply chain planning solutions worldwide. Adexa will continue to work with IBM to develop product delivery models and common sales pipelines. In addition, Adexa and IBM will train consultants on the advantages and customer value each company brings to the new relationship. Besides OFS, the two firms have previously collaborated on engagements at CNH Global CNH Global N.V. (short for Case-New Holland; NYSE: CNH-ADR's) is the second largest manufacturer of agricultural equipment and the third largest maker of construction equipment in the world.  and Pulse Electronics.

Adexa and IBM will integrate Adexa solutions with IBM's e-business infrastructure technologies, including DB2, DB2 OLAP (OnLine Analytical Processing) Decision support software that allows the user to quickly analyze information that has been summarized into multidimensional views and hierarchies. OLAP tools are used to perform trend analysis on sales and financial information. , WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Portal, WebSphere Commerce, WebSphere Business Integration, Tivoli Access Manager and Tivoli Monitoring, eServer pSeries and xSeries. Adexa's Collaborative Demand Planning and Collaborative Supply Planning solutions have already been integrated with DB2. The agreement will also result in Adexa recommending IBM Global Services IBM Global Services is the world's largest business and technology services provider. It is the fastest growing part of IBM, with over 190,000 professionals serving customers in more than 160 countries.  for appropriate integration work, and use of IBM Global Finance in specific situations.
