Business/Technology Editors

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 1999

Adero, Inc., the leader in global Internet content distribution, application and e-commerce services and Intershop Communications, Inc., the world's leading provider of sell-side electronic commerce software, today announced a partnership to accelerate global e-commerce. Per terms of the agreement, Adero will deploy Intershop enfinity, Intershop's next generation e-business software, worldwide across Adero's Intelligent Network (AIN). Intershop will also offer AderoWorld Service(TM), Adero's flagship content distribution offering, to its e-commerce customers to provide a rapid, secure and reliable global e-commerce solution.

Adero provides global content and commerce distribution services, enabling businesses to engage in enhanced global e-commerce. The Adero Intelligent Network delivers content and commerce services from intelligent nodes that are local to the customer. Adero's commerce nodes will be networked globally, so consumers can benefit from a speedy browsing and buying process no matter where the consumer or the business is located.

Intershop enfinity is the first complete XML and Java(TM) 2 platform-based, sell-side e-business application that offers the enterprise market advanced selling features, closely integrated with existing business systems, while providing the flexibility to grow with rapidly changing e-commerce business models. AderoWorld Service will distribute the heavy processing load associated with e-commerce transactions, and will intelligently route browsers and buyers to the nearest available node.

"Intershop enfinity allows Adero flexibility to support our customers' diverse needs for global distributed e-commerce," said Al Fink, vice president of marketing at Adero.

"We are excited about this partnership between Intershop and Adero because it results in tangible benefits for online businesses and consumers worldwide," said Jim Demetros, vice president of sales at Intershop. "The advanced content management of AderoWorld Service combined with Intershop enfinity's Sell Anywhere, Integrate Everything capabilities increases speed and convenience of online shopping."
