Adept Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADTK), a leading manufacturer of flexible automation for the telecommunications, fiber optic and semiconductor industries, today announced that as part of an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  agreement, Adept will provide Carl Zeiss IMT IMT,

"Virtual CMM transforms the world-class Carl Zeiss Calypso, HOLOS, and UMESS-UX metrology software into powerful state-of-the-art 3-D CAD-based CMM programming tools that fit transparently into existing shop floor processes," said Eric Jacobs, director of product marketing for Adept's SILMA division. "Virtual CMM is the least invasive means to bring the benefits of paperless CAD-based programming and concurrent engineering to the shop floor--manufacturers of all sizes can now adopt the latest methods for inspection process improvement with minimal risk."

"Through the joint cooperation of Carl Zeiss IMT and Adept Technology, Virtual CMM software seamlessly supports the unique features of Zeiss coordinate measuring machines", said Alfons Lindmayer, marketing manager for Carl Zeiss IMT. "We are pleased to be able to offer the Virtual CMM software to our customers who need advanced CAD-based programming in connection with their existing and well-known Zeiss software."

Virtual CMM is the only software available that is controlled directly by the Zeiss CMM on-line software without any translation or emulation thus providing operators with an accurate software duplicate of their real factory floor equipment. Virtual CMM together with the Zeiss metrology software allows a programmer of a Zeiss CMM to create, modify and prove out CMM part programs using only 3-D CAD models instead of using the actual CMM hardware and waiting for real parts. Fully tested error free programs are created quicker--and far more accurately--with Virtual CMM than can be realized with a real CMM and traditional teach pendant programming. CAD models are read directly and seamlessly into Virtual CMM from Dassault Systemes CATIA A family of 2D and 3D CAD programs from IBM. CATIA was one of the first CAD programs to provide 3D solid modeling.
