:ADTK.OB), a leading manufacturer of flexible automation for the semiconductor, electronics, fiber optic, telecommunications, and life sciences industries, today announced that its Adept Cobra Smart600(TM) robot has won Robotics World magazine's Innovative Products Award in the robots/controllers category at the recently held International Robot and Vision Show 2003 in Rosemont, Ill. The awards, which debuted at the show, were determined by independent judges and were created to give recognition to product innovation in the robotics industry.

"We are delighted that Robotics World has recognized our Adept Cobra Smart600 as one of the industry's best new innovative products," said Charlie Duncheon, executive vice president of Adept Technology. "The award validates our vision to develop products that will help industries that want to automate, but find the cost of installation and operation of traditional robots a barrier. We feel that the Adept Cobra Smart600 will open the doors to more universal use of robot systems."

What sets the Adept Cobra Smart600 apart from all other robots is Adept's exclusive Adept SmartAmp(TM) technology -- this is the only industrial SCARA robot to include all the controls, amplifiers and I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output.
