Adept Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADTK), a leading manufacturer of flexible automation for the telecommunications, fiber optic and semiconductor industries, today announced it will provide Solid State Measurements, Inc. with its FFE 200/300 wafer handling system and Adept MV controls for their new SSM 6000 series of semiconductor fabrication metrology systems.

The Adept FFE 200/300 will include a Vicron 300D dual arm wafer handling robot, Adept's integrated motion and vision controller, vibration isolation, wafer inspection system, precision stage, and microenvironment packaged in an ISO 2 cleanliness enclosure. In addition to the Vicron 300D, the Adept controller will control the precise movement of the metrology probes and it will oversee all other motion, vision, and environmental elements of the platform.

The Adept FFE 200 and the Adept FFE 300 series combine wafer sorting and SMIF load functions into one compact tool integrated front-end system, reducing cycle times, process complexity and cost. The Adept FFE 200/300 series combine wafer value added operations such as wafer orientation, OCR, Sort and Merge into a compact front-end system, eliminating the need for wafer sorters in the factory. The Adept FFE 200/300 systems are the only wafer handling systems on the market today using Adept's factory proven motion and vision control technology.
