Adept Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADTK), a leading manufacturer of flexible automation for the fiber optic, telecommunications and semiconductor industries, today announced the release of Adept DeskTop(TM) software. This new PC software is used to graphically program, control and monitor Adept equipment using the V+(TM) and MicroV+(TM) programming languages. Adept DeskTop also includes the Adept ActiveV(TM), an ActiveX(R) (COM (1) (Computer Output Microfilm) Creating microfilm or microfiche from the computer. "Adept DeskTop is designed to dramatically simplify the interface to V+ and MicroV+ with easy-to-use graphical objects," said Joe Campbell, vice president of marketing for Adept Technology, "and since it includes ActiveX support, users now can leverage other PC programming tools to create their own custom panels and interface to the controller. Combining Adept's integrated motion control with best-in-class PC tools will decrease training costs and implementation time, while increasing productivity."

The Adept DeskTop software packages, available as Adept DeskTop Full and Adept DeskTop Lite editions, feature standard Microsoft style toolbars, icons, and drag and drop A graphical user interface (GUI) capability that lets you perform operations by moving the icon of an object with the mouse into another window or onto another icon.
