Adept Technology Announces New SMIF Pod Opener at SEMICON West 2001; Adept SMIF EZ Expands Cleanroom Contamination Product Line.

Adept Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADTK), a leading manufacturer of flexible automation for the telecommunications, fiber optic and semiconductor industries, today announced the first public showing of the Adept SMIF EZ, the latest product offering in Adept's 200mm SMIF pod opener line, at the SEMICON West 2001 tradeshow (Adept booth No. 3306) in San Francisco, Calif., which runs July 16th-20th. The new pod opener will expand Adept's cleanroom contamination product line.

The Adept SMIF EZ utilizes a single, centrally mounted lead screw; the Adept SMIF EZ has smooth motion and eliminates the binding possible in dual screw/motor designs. It is also designed with a compact footprint for CE/Semi compliance. The Adept SMIF EZ also features adjustment free pod lock mechanisms, an optimized stepper motor drive and a modular build design. The Adept SMIFF EZ provides an economical, highly integratable solution for 200mm front-end automation applications.

Adept will be exhibiting at SEMICON West July 16th-20th in San Francisco, Calif. where attendees can view the Adept FFE (Flexible Front End) featuring the AdeptVicron 300 robot and the new SMIF EZ load port.
