Adecco USA Joins United Nations Global Compact Initiative.

:ADO), the nation's leading staffing services provider, today announced that the company has joined the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary corporate citizenship Corporate Citizenship

The extent to which businesses are socially responsible in meeting legal, ethical and economic responsibilities placed on them by shareholders. The aim it to create higher standards of living and quality of life in the community in which it operates, while
 initiative with a vision of a more sustainable and inclusive global economy. The company is committed to supporting the Global Compact's ten principles, which seek to provide businesses with an ethical framework in which they may both expand market opportunities and conduct business responsibly.

The Global Compact's ten principles address issues of significance in the areas of human rights, labor standards, the environment and anti-corruption. Specifically, the principles are as follows:

Human Rights

--Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and

--Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit com·plic·it

Labor Standards

--Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining collective bargaining, in labor relations, procedure whereby an employer or employers agree to discuss the conditions of work by bargaining with representatives of the employees, usually a labor union. ;

--Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor;

--Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labor child labor, use of the young as workers in factories, farms, and mines. Child labor was first recognized as a social problem with the introduction of the factory system in late 18th-century Great Britain. ; and

--Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Environment

--Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;

--Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and

--Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies

Anti-Corruption

--Principle 10: Businesses should work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery.

The Global Compact asks member organizations to embrace, support and enact, within their sphere of influence, these ten principles. It also asks members to engage with other partners to give concrete expression to the Global Compact principles. In order to advocate for changes that will make the business world a truly global community, Adecco USA will focus mainly on Principle 6, the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation, in its global partnership efforts.

The information in the document is used to train Adecco USA colleagues, and the document will be sent to all Adecco subsidiaries worldwide to share and discuss with clients, candidates, and legislators or policy makers. This information will also be available on www.adeccousa.com on a page dedicated to Adecco's Global Compact membership.
