Addonics Technologies today announced the first solution to support Serial ATA's (SATA (Serial ATA) A serial version of the ATA (IDE) interface, which has been the de facto standard hard disk interface for desktop PCs for more than two decades. The original Parallel ATA (PATA) interface was launched in 1986. ) 150-MB/sec transfer rate, and a wide range of SATA peripherals on notebook computers with its CardBus Serial ATA adapter.

Addonics also expanded its SATA desktop and server product line with the addition of an internal/external SATA port adapter, and new External Serial ATA Upgrade Kits for desktop and notebook systems.

The Addonics CardBus Serial ATA Adapter instantly adds two high-speed SATA ports to any notebook computer via the CardBus/PCMCIA slot. Users need a PC card 32-bit CardBus compliant slot to gain SATA performance on their mobile computer.

The External Serial ATA cable connects to the Standard Serial ATA port and also provides optional BUS power to Addonics Pocket Series storage via an integrated USB power cable. The External Serial ATA cable also attaches easily to any Addonics Pocket or Mobile Storage device. Once installed, any Addonics external data storage device can be added or removed from the system via the high speed Serial ATA port.
