Addonics Announces the CipherChain - an AES 256-bit Hardware Encryption Solution That Is Simple, Affordable and Easy-to-Install.

SAN JOSE San Jose, city, United States
San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850.
, Calif. -- Addonics Technologies (www.addonics.com) today announced an AES 256-bit hardware full disk encryption Full disk encryption (or whole disk encryption) is a kind of disk encryption software or hardware which encrypts every bit of data that goes on a disk. The term "full disk encryption" is often used to signify that everything on a disk including the operating system is  solution for personal computers, servers, rack mounted Built into a cabinet that has a standard width of 19" or 24". All types of electronics and computing devices come in rack-mounted packages, including servers, test instruments, telecommunications components, tape drives and audio and video equipment.  systems, data storage equipment and, basically, any computing equipment.

Called the Addonics CipherChain, the new product is a small module the size of a Compact Flash that can easily and quickly be installed into any system. Since it can be operated under any Operating System, CipherChain is an ideal security solution for organizations with legacy systems or in a heterogeneous computing environment.

There's no software to run, no driver to install and no password to remember in operating the CipherChain. All the user has to do is to insert the correct Cipher key before powering on the system or the storage device. There is also no training required. It's as simple as using a key to open a door.

The CipherChain works with any SATA (Serial ATA) A serial version of the ATA (IDE) interface, which has been the de facto standard hard disk interface for desktop PCs for more than two decades. The original Parallel ATA (PATA) interface was launched in 1986.  I/II hard drive, SSD See solid state disk.  (Solid State Drive) or storage device with SATA interface. Addonics provides a wide choice of mounting brackets to install the CipherChain into various systems.

CipherChain's AES 256-bit encryption is the highest level of encryption and is secure enough to protect even the most sensitive information. The boot sector, partition table and all the information in the drive are encrypted. You can raise the security level to increasingly complex level by simply daisy-chaining two or more CipherChains.

One of CipherChain's key features is its high performance. The hard drive is encrypted and decrypted on the fly by the onboard crypto engine with no utilization of any CPU CPU

resource. There is practically no noticeable performance impact on the drive or the system. The high performance crypto engine is NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology, Washington, DC, www.nist.gov) The standards-defining agency of the U.S. government, formerly the National Bureau of Standards. It is one of three agencies that fall under the Technology Administration (www.technology.  and CES certified.

Another important feature is its flexibility. It's great for securing a system from unauthorized access; preventing sensitive data from unauthorized access when a storage device is lost or stolen; shipping or transporting storage devices containing sensitive data, or for encrypting an entire RAID volume or a specific storage device within a RAID volume.
