Addonics Announces Universal Rack Mount Chassis for Building Multi-Terabyte Hard Disc or Optical Storage Solutions.

SAN JOSE San Jose, city, United States
San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850.
, Calif. -- Addonics Technologies www.addonics.com today announced its Storage Rack, a 4U rack mount storage chassis that is designed to fit into a standard computer rack for creating custom storage solutions with multi-terabyte capacity for video storage, video editing See nonlinear video editing and video editor. , data archiving, storage farms, or uninterruptible and redundant storage.

Designed to grow an organization's enterprise storage capacity without making any individual component obsolete, the Addonics Storage Rack offers more configuration options than expensive proprietary storage solutions at a much lower cost per gigabyte. The Storage Rack can also be easily reconfigured, modified or upgraded at any time to meet an organization's new application needs without investing in new storage devices or new storage enclosures.

Room for Multi-Terabyte Storage

The Addonics Storage Rack comes with nine standard 5 1/4-inch drive bays. It can be initially configured with just a single drive and expanded to as many as nine standard height optical devices or nine 3.5-inch hard drives. When combined with the Addonics optional 3.5-inch Disk Array or 2.5-inch Disk Array, up to 15 3.5-inch hard drives or 36 2.5-inch hard drives can be installed inside the Storage Rack. One Addonics Storage Rack supports up to 15 terabytes of storage using the largest 1 TB 3.5-inch hard drive or almost 11 terabytes of storage using the 300 GB 2.5-inch hard drive. Users can mix and match optical drives with hard drives (with or without hardware encryption) inside the same Storage Rack.

Multiple Connectivity Options

Storage devices inside the Storage Rack can be connected to the system via individual eSATA cables for maximum throughput or via multiple Port Multipliers or Multilane mul·ti·lane

When combined with the wide range of Addonics removable storage systems, IO converters and cables, IDE or SATA (Serial ATA) A serial version of the ATA (IDE) interface, which has been the de facto standard hard disk interface for desktop PCs for more than two decades. The original Parallel ATA (PATA) interface was launched in 1986.  storage devices from 1.8-inch to 3.5-inch form factors can all be mixed into the same chassis. These devices can also be hot swapped in and out of the Storage Rack like a tape cassette See cassette and audio cassette. .

The Storage Rack is constructed with heavy gauge sheet metal with dual 4-inch high CFM cooling fans to ensure efficient cooling. Also included is a built-in thermal management card that provides continuous temperature monitoring and over-temperature alarm as well as controlling the speed of cooling fan. An optional redundant power supply is also available for mission critical applications.

When combined with various Addonics Mobile Racks, the Disk Array 5SA, Disk Array 4SA, and Disk Array 3SA , 2.5" to 3.5" IDE converter and the optional drive mounting brackets, the configuration possibilities for the Storage Rack become almost endless.

Storage Rack Build to Order Program

For one low flat fee, Addonics will custom build a Storage Rack using various Addonics Disk Arrays, Mobile Racks, hard drives, ATAPI (AT Attachment Packet Interface) The specification for ATA (IDE) tape drives and CD-ROMs. See IDE.
