The Addonics SDCS, with choice of SATA (Serial ATA) A serial version of the ATA (IDE) interface, which has been the de facto standard hard disk interface for desktop PCs for more than two decades. The original Parallel ATA (PATA) interface was launched in 1986.  or USB USB

Type of serial bus that allows peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, digitizers, data gloves, etc.) to be easily connected to a computer.
interface, includes a high-performance drive cartridge in 300, 500 and 750GBs capacities. The primary components of the Addonics SDCS are:

1.) The SDCS drive cradle, which installs in a 5 i drive bay of any computer system with choice of USB or SATA connection.

2.) The SDCS Cartridge in storage capacities of 300, 500 and 750 GBs

3.) The optional USIB USIB United States Intelligence Board

interface cable, which allows users to use the SDCS cartridge as an external storage device by attaching the drive cartridge to any computer via the USB, Firewire, eSATA, or Cardbus/PCMCIA interface. This feature gives Addonics SDCS cartridge a distinct advantage over other removable media systems such as floppy, tape cartridges, or other cartridge systems because the media does not have to be used in its own drive mechanism. The data in the SDCS cartridge can be accessed practically by any system.

To protect sensitive data, the SDCS cartridge also comes with an optional hardware encryption. The operation of the SDCS Cipher cipher: see cryptography.

(1) The core algorithm used to encrypt data. A cipher transforms regular data (plaintext) into a coded set of data (ciphertext) that is not reversible without a key.
cartridge requires just the insertion of an encryption key into the cartridge. Standard SDCS cartridges and SDCS Cipher cartridges can be mixed in the same cartridge system.

Addonics SDCS drive cartridge uses a standard hard drive as its storage media and offers the largest storage capacity per cartridge, up to 750 GB per cartridge today, with fast hard drive performance. Users can pop out the drive cartridge without rebooting or restarting. Once the OS detects the presence of the SDCS cartridge, it appears as an additional hard drive on the system.

There are no drivers to install or special software required to do data backup or restoration. Data is stored uncompressed in its own native file format and can be accessed readily by any application program. The SDCS is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2003, 2000, 98SE, Mac OS X and above,.

List price of the Addonics Saturn Drive Cartridge System starts at $199.95, which includes one 300 GB SDCS cartridge. The product is available through the company online store www.shopaddonics.com.
