Standard floppies could also be used in the drive. The SuperDisk was discontinued in 2003. See LS-120., CD-ROM, and hard drive solutions when it today announced a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connector cable that supports the Apple iMac, and all USB-compliant notebook or desktop PCs. iMac users now have a multitude of storage options with Addonics' new USB - ATA/ATAPI connector cable. A single cable provides hot swappable storage and support for Addonics' family of portable storage devices, which includes: the 100MB PocketZIP; 120MB LS-120 (Laser Servo-120) A floppy disk technology that holds 120MB, developed by 3M, Compaq, Matsushita and O.R. Technology. LS-120 drives use a dual-gap head that reads and writes 120MB disks as well as standard 3.5" 1.44MB and 720KB floppies. The technology records data magnetically, but uses optical tracks in the disk to align the heads. LS-120 disks have 2,490 tracks per inch, compared to 135 tpi for the 1.44MB floppy. When unplugged, the USB connector can be wound into the container.. The 6-foot long cable and driver software will be sold separately as a $49 (MSRP) accessory or can be ordered with any Addonics "Pocket" USB series product at no extra charge.
