MONROVIA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2000

New printer acts as upgrade for impact printers,

boasts new design features

Addmaster, Corp., a worldwide manufacturer of inkjet receipt and validation printers, introduced a new product for the financial industry, the Addmaster IJ9000. This printer is an easy upgrade from impact devices such as Epson and Axiohm printers, while offering several new design features including faster receipt printing (1.5 ips), striking print quality (300 dpi), financial institution logo graphics, and a more open validation slot with improved cut-form handling.

Hugh Clary clary: see sage. , vice president of Addmaster, said, "We sought to create a strikingly modern look that suggests a different kind of teller receipt and validation printer... one that is similar to state-of-the-art inkjet consumer products and which also offers high-tech functionality for customers wishing to upgrade from impact printers. We feel the we've accomplished this with the compact IJ9000."

"With the IJ9000's exceptional print quality, financial institutions can now print logos on receipts as well as high-impact marketing messages," said William Gault n. 1. (Geol.) To design the IJ9000, Addmaster faced several technical challenges. The first was to find a way to simplify paper loading while minimizing footprint. To accomplish this, an enclosed paper roll housing was designed with a unique pop-up chute that guides the paper automatically into its path. Another challenge was to make the validation slot more open while minimizing the service station size. The solution was a retractable re·tract

capping and wiping station that automatically moves out of the form path when printing is initiated. The validation slot extends the full width of the printer, accommodating a wide range of form lengths.

The IJ9000 is available in several configurations. The fully featured receipt and validation model has a list price of $955.00. Serial RS232 and parallel interfaces are available as Epson and Axiohm emulations. The printers have a standard DIN connector (Deutsches Institut fur Normung connector; German Standards Institute connector) A family of plugs and sockets used to connect mice and keyboards to the computer. Since flash chips can be updated over and over, the ROM (read only) designation is somewhat misleading. "ROM" is used more to mean not volatile than not changeable. See flash memory.
