(AMEX AMEX See: American Stock Exchange :PAX), announced today that an additional group of 10 broadcasters have filed with the FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S. joining with the Spectrum Clearing Alliance's Petition for Clarification and Reconsideration of the FCC's Third Report & Order, filed on Friday, March 16, 2001. With the addition of these supporters, the broadcasters of the Alliance now represent 53% of the 99 analog television stations currently operating on channels 59-69, the spectrum scheduled to be sold in the FCC's September 2001 auction. The petition covers the rules for the 700 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. spectrum auction and proposes that the FCC refine certain aspects of its Third Report & Order so that all incumbent television broadcasters licensed to operate within the 700 MHz spectrum band will be able to vacate To annul, set aside, or render void; to surrender possession or occupancy.
