DETROIT -- Michael Sanders, president, Enhanced Protective Glass Automotive Association (EPGAA) comments on NHTSA NHTSA National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (US government)  activity:

"Seven consumer, health and safety organizations (see below) have joined in urging NHTSA to follow through with its intended plan to develop a comprehensive, performance-based standard for laminated glass Noun 1. laminated glass - glass made with plates of plastic or resin or other material between two sheets of glass to prevent shattering

Therefore, we urge NHTSA to continue to consider and evaluate laminated glass as a technology that could be used to help meet ejection prevention standards."

Laminated glass -- required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on front windshields -- is a safety glass, which does not shatter under strong forces, thus preventing most ejections through the windshield during collisions and rollovers. Laminated glass used in window positions other than the windshield is often called Enhanced Protective Glass (EPG (Electronic Program Guide) An online listing of TV or other programs. NHTSA uses the terminology, Advanced Glazing (AG), which includes laminated glass.
