Adding a twist to Italian design; Laura Davis on Alberta Ferretti's new Philosophy collection.

Byline: Laura Davis

ALBERTA FERRETTI' S Italian roots are a strong influence in herautumn/winter Philosophy collection She has given the casual street look a couture twist with suede, fringes, buckles, eyelets and hats reworked into the Ferretti style of elegance and femininity.

Skirts are the key feature of the range, either cut above the knee or in a longer, sensual version, enriched with country details.

The shirt comes back as an important piece, as a feminine touch or in acontemporary cowgirl style. Patterned silks are infused with layers of velvet, while vintage-style prints in velvet, silk and faux fur come in rose and neutral colours.

Look out for 1950s-style dresses with silk embroidered stitching.
