AddDepth2 Automates 3D Effects and Adds Native Support For Power Macintosh; Easier, Faster, More Compatible & Lower Price.MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 1995--Ray Dream, Inc., the leader in 3D illustration software for the color publishing market, today announced a new version of its popular 3D effects software for Macintosh, AddDepth 2. Designed for printed output, AddDepth creates 3D graphics in a fully editable PostScript A file of PostScript commands that can be edited by a word processor or other program. This allows PostScript documents to be changed without requiring the use of the application that originally created it. Editing PostScript was done in the earlier days when the code was ASCII and less complex. It is rarely done today because the coding has become a lot more sophisticated, and the file is often compressed. See PostScript. or vector-based format, giving users the advantage of resolution independence, smaller file sizes and easy integration with popular graphics programs. AddDepth can be readily used by the vast market of Macintosh users to quickly add the powerful impact of 3D graphics to all types of documents including newsletters, reports, sales and marketing materials, presentations, even logos and letterhead. Users simply type or draw directly in AddDepth or import art from popular clip art A set of canned images used to illustrate word processing and desktop publishing documents. or drawing packages. Depth and perspective are handled automatically. AddDepth supports both TrueType and PostScript Type 1 fonts and gives users full typographic control. "To make an impression on my high-tech clients, my proposals and presentations really have to stand out from dozens of others they see each month," said Mark Towler, business development specialist from Phoenix Publishing in Monterey, California. "I couldn't design my way out of a paper bag, but with the templates in the AddDepth Wizard, I can create professional 3D graphics in seconds. I'm convinced that using AddDepth has closed some deals for me." New Features Version 2 includes the AddDepth Wizard, a graphics assistant that fully automates the creation of 3D graphics. The AddDepth Wizard offers users the choice of over one-hundred professionally designed 3D graphic templates, or alternatively, will take users through the design process step-by-step, allowing them to select different lighting, color, and rotation effects for their graphics. "We pride ourselves on building products that meet our customers' needs," said Mark Kaufmann, product marketing manager at Ray Dream. "AddDepth users have consistently told us three things-make it easier, faster and more compatible.
