"Last month's auction created access for media buyers to previously unavailable inventory and yielded an average price of 35 percent over rate card for board owners. Both buyers and sellers came away as winners," said Chris Redlitz, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Offering this ad inventory via the Internet allows the owners of these types of out-of-home advertising properties the ability to reach a larger audience, and sell their inventory quicker and more efficiently than they can through traditional means. We believe we have demonstrated the validity of the auction model for selling not just opportunistic ad inventory late in the sales cycle, but also for selling premium, first-tier ad inventory."

According to Paul Kagan Associates the out-of-home advertising market is expected to exceed $3.6 billion by the year 2003. Traditionally, access to prime, high-demand advertising opportunities has been locked up in long-term contracts. The auction model creates a more efficient way for suppliers to sell this inventory, in addition it expands the reach of potential buyers to smaller companies and individuals who otherwise might not have access to it.

"We were pleased with our results on Adauction.com," said Brian B. Obie, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Obie Media, a leading full-service out-of-home media company based in Eugene, Ore. "Our wallscape in Seattle was posted on Thursday morning and sold that afternoon. The client bought the space at a fair market value, exceeding our expectations."
