Adaptive Media has developed a standards-based software solution to provide organizations with an intuitive, easy-to-use system for creating, managing and delivering streaming video A one-way video transmission over a data network. It is widely used on the Web as well as company networks to play video clips and video broadcasts. Computers in home networks stream video to digital media hubs connected to a home theater.  and 3D applications across corporate Intranets and Extranets, to individual desktops.

Envision Enterprise: A Scalable Workgroup Solution

The Envision Enterprise solution is based on the concept of a highly distributed architecture that is scalable and modular, which enables workgroup environments the ability to grow, as needed as needed prn. See prn order. , into an enterprise-wide solution.

The Envision Enterprise client/server software suite offers an intuitive, easy-to-use system for creating, managing, and delivering streaming video and 3D applications across existing networks to the desktop. The suite components include:

-- Envision MediaManager - Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  server software that provides dynamic delivery of streaming video and 3D media across corporate LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  and WAN backbones to desktop users via standard Internet Protocol See Internet and TCP/IP.

-- Envision Desktop - standard Windows 95 or NT client software that runs as a browser plug-In A third-party software product, such as a search toolbar, that is integrated into a Web browser to extend its capabilities. A "helper application" provides similar capabilities to a browser plug-in, but runs as an external application and typically launches another window for viewing.  for Netscape or ActiveX environments to allow users to interact with just-in-time video and 3D applications on their desktop.

-- Envision Studio - is a software module that works in conjunction with MediaManager and provides a flexible-authoring environment that converts video and 3D files from industry standard digital formats such as MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) An ISO/ITU standard for compressing digital video. Pronounced "em-peg," it is the universal standard for digital terrestrial, cable and satellite TV, DVDs and digital video recorders (DVRs).  and VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) A 3D graphics language used on the Web. After downloading a VRML page, its contents can be viewed, rotated and manipulated. Simulated rooms can be "walked into." The VRML viewer is launched from within the Web browser.  and integrates them into just-in-time visual applications.

-- Envision Link - Windows NT server software that provides a store and forward facility of video and 3D media distribution from a single workgroup environment to a distributed environment of multiple workgroups connected via WANs.

Dialog(TM) Framework Leverages Existing Computer and Network Investments

A cornerstone of the Adaptive Media's Envision Enterprise system is a powerful architecture called Dialog (Dynamic Information Access LOGic)

The patent-pending Dialog framework dynamically adapts the delivery of audio, video and 3D media to the parameters of each individual desktop computer, based on such factors as network topology See topology. , network conditions and individual computer configuration.

The Dialog framework further allows each recipient to selectively tune the flow of information, allowing the user to optimize the medium they choose; for example, video can be adjusted to view medical procedures better or 3D level-of-detail can be enhanced when studying engineering files.

Streaming 3-D Solution Revolutionizes Collaborative Engineering

Envision Enterprise is the first network-based software solution that provides streaming industrial 3D graphics over Intranets/Extranets to the desktop.

This capability will dramatically change how design, construction and engineering companies exchange information with their employees, customers and partners. Using Adaptive Media's Dialog architecture, Envision Enterprise streams 3D models at the optimal level-of-detail based on each clients processing power and bandwidth availability.
