Adaptec's New Ultra2 SCSI Pricing Drives Adoption.

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 23, 1998--In a move to make Ultra2 SCSI more accessible to all customers with high I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output.

bandwidth requirements, Adaptec has lowered the manufacturer's suggested retail price of its high performance, server-class Ultra2 SCSI 2940U2W U2W Ultra 2 Wide  host adapter kit by 20%. In addition, for a further discount, Adaptec is now offering a multipack version of the 2940U2W targeted for white box systems integrators.

"We want to eliminate any restrictions for customers who need Ultra2 technology," said Ravi Chalaka, product marketing manager for distribution products. "Now that the major hard disk drive manufacturers are shipping Ultra2 SCSI drives in volume, and with our lower prices, Ultra2 SCSI is ready for the mainstream."
