Adams Mine plan alive.


The plan to fill the former Adams mine Adams Mine is an abandoned open pit iron ore mine located in the Boston Township of the District of Timiskaming, 11 km (7 miles) south of Kirkland Lake in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is situated on the Canadian Shield.  with Toronto garbage still remains a priority with the man who pioneered the idea.

Gordon McGuinty, president of Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  Development, the company that owns the decommissioned Kirkland Lake Kirkland Lake, mining town, E Ont., Canada. An important gold-mining center, gold was discovered there in 1911 and again in the 1980s at Harker. The mining of iron ore and tourism are two other important industries.  pit says reports of placing a fish farm project at the property were "blown out of proportion."

McGuinty maintains that making a landfill out of the Adams site remains his firm's preferred scenario for the site. His company was exploring a number of business opportunities which included a fish farm.

The Adams Mine. plan to ship millions of tonnes of Toronto garbage to the abandoned mine near Kirkland Lake was scuttled last year by public protest The Keele Valley dump in Vaughan was originally slated to close in 2002. Its life was later extended to 2006, until Toronto works out, a deal to truck its waste along Highway 401 to Michigan. But that proposal has encountered opposition.

Though he has not had any further discussions with Toronto officials, he expects to have a clearer picture on the future of the mine site by the end of the year.
