More than 600 people passed through architect Adam Kushner's apartment at the Third Annual openhousenewyork (OHNY) Weekend, presented by Target, on October 8 and 9, as part of the city's Architecture Week.

The sixth-floor penthouse duplex at 79 Barrow St. contains one of the most interesting interiors in Manhattan.

Carrying out the themes of air, earth, fire and water, the apartment features IRT subway doors at the entrances and closets, a rolling mezzanine floor, subway tiles in the guest room, a retractable roof, an iron wok hearth, a glass-bottom tub and an in-ground jacuzzi in the living room.

"Adam Kushner's amazing property at 79 Barrow St. is a great example of the architectural excellence that is found in neighborhoods throughout New York," said Scott Lauer, executive director and founder of OHNY, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness and appreciation of New York's architecture and design.
