Adam Elsheimer Adam Elsheimer (1578 in Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany — 1610 in Rome, Italy) was an influential artist in the early 17th century. His paintings were small scale, nearly all painted on copper plates, of the type often known as cabinet paintings.  1578-1610.
