Adam Alfaro: "the movie thing made my hair gay".

Adam, where are you from and how old are you?

Whittier, California Whittier is a city in Los Angeles County, California about 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Los Angeles. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 83,680. It is the home of Whittier College. . Oh shit--I'm 22!

When did you start skating, and where do you think you got your style from?

I started when I was 10-years-old. Skating with earlier Label dudes Dudes may refer to:
  • Plural of dude
  • The Dudes, a Canadian band
  • Th'Dudes, a New Zealand band
and Jason Adams is where I got my style.

What's been going on this past year?

Finished that movie shit. Stunt skate work for Tony Alva in Lords of Dogtown.

How did you hook up with the stunt work?

Tom Miyao, Label TM, told me to go to the skate casting thing and I met Tony Alva. Everything happened right as soon as I met TA!

How was it hanging out with Tony Alva? Got any good stories?

Have you ever hung with a '70's Skate God? Pretty much that, but more weed and chicks. He punks people he doesn't know.

Were you able to make some cash off the Hollywood industry?

For sure I made some loot. But if I had an agent guy, I would have had a rad Animal Chin-style ramp that would make Bob Burnquist's look skimpy skimp·y
adj. skimp·i·er, skimp·i·est
1. Inadequate, as in size or fullness, especially through economizing or stinting: a skimpy meal.

2. Unduly thrifty; niggardly.
.

Were you there when the producer chick fell into the re-make of the Dog Bowl? How gnarly (jargon) gnarly - /nar'lee/ Both obscure and hairy. "Yow! - the tuned assembler implementation of BitBlt is really gnarly!" From a similar but less specific usage in surfer slang.  was that?

Fuck. I was in the pool and totally felt the 'crete shake. But the weird thing was, she didn't make a sound when she hit.

How did you keep your nutsack from hanging out of those '70s shorts you had to wear?

I only wore shorts once, but the whole day I was pulling my sack and stretching it out.

Aside from you and the other skaters like the Nuge, how many kooks were there on the acting side?

Pretty much I was the only kook, because my hair was completely blonde and gay. So now I have dreads dreads
pl.n. Informal
Dreadlocks.
going. Dude, I think I should have acted as Tony Alva though!

Is the movie going to be cheesy cheesy (che´ze) caseous. , or is it going to be really cheesy?

Probably cheesy. It's Hollywood.

Did you get any girls out of the movie? Like on the set, or even the caterers?

The only action I got was from a hot wardrobe chick grabbing my sack for adjustment. Other than that, it's easy to get chicks without the movie stuff.

Did you get to skate any real backyard pools in the making of the film?

They made an exact replica of the Dog Bowl, which is the one that Catherine Hardwicke fell into, and another sick one at Coolio's manager's pad. That guy's bad!

How did the dreads come about? Alva-inspired?

The movie thing made my hair gay.

Have you been doing anything lately for the movie with Tony?

Just re-shoots and smoking bowls at lunch in my truck, waiting to skate a pool.

Did you have to learn any tricks to fill the shoes of being the '70s Tony Alva?

Just how to roll a killer J.

What's going on What's Going On is a record by American soul singer Marvin Gaye. Released on May 21, 1971 (see 1971 in music), What's Going On reflected the beginning of a new trend in soul music.  with Black Label? Anthony Scalamari and Pat Melcher got released, but you guys picked up Leeper and Mumford. Not a bad trade.

Not a bad trade at all. But Ragdoll was my bud; sucks he had to go. Melcher is what kids think of when the word label is said. RIP the OG Label.

Do you think you'll get any more movie gigs or stunt work after doing Dogtown?

It would be rad to make mad cash from dumb movies. How did you manage to get stoned on the set before you had to ride your skateboard?

When lunch was called, everyone on the set knew I had a bong bong 1
n.
A deep ringing sound, as of a bell.

v. bonged, bong·ing, bongs

v.tr.
To cause to sound with a deep ringing noise.

v.intr.
in the car. So the usuals--TA, Don Nguyen, and Mike Ogas--would be at the car.

What kind of music do you listen to when you're out skating?

The Sonics, or the rad psychedelic psychedelic /psy·che·del·ic/ (si?ki-del´ik)
1. pertaining to or characterized by hallucinations, distortions of perception and awareness, and sometimes psychotic-like behavior.

2. a drug that produces such effects.
secret Janis I have. And The Chinese Stars are pretty much my favorite My Favorite is an independent synthpop band from Long Island, New York. They released two CDs: Love at Absolute Zero and Happiest Days of Our Lives. My Favorite broke up on September 14, 2005, when singer Andrea Vaughn left the band. .

Were your parents born in the '60s?

Almost; my mom is straight, but my dad chilled pretty hard in the '70s, doing appropriate psychedelics.

Who are your sponsors right now?

Black Label, Duffs and Independent trucks. Anybody else? Let's do this!

What was your view on the two-page Duffs ad with the child molester Noun 1. child molester - a man who has sex (usually sodomy) with a boy as the passive partner
paederast, pederast

degenerate, deviant, deviate, pervert - a person whose behavior deviates from what is acceptable especially in sexual behavior
? Did they run that by you first?

No, they just took my picture and said "Surprise."

Do you have one of those medical weed cards yet?

I need to buy a renewal for the year. I wish you could see my picture on the card.

Have you ever been to Amsterdam?

I wish.

If you go you might never leave.
