Acxiom(R) Strengthens Its Privacy Leadership With New Appointments in U.S., Europe and Asia; Chief Privacy Officer Jennifer Barrett Named Global Leader.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- As part of its continuing efforts at protecting data privacy and security, Acxiom(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ACXM) has made several significant leadership appointments, with Chief Privacy Officer Jennifer Barrett being named Global Privacy Officer.

Other privacy leadership appointments include that of Sheila Colclasure, Acxiom business leader for privacy practices and solutions, who will assume the role of privacy officer for North and South America; Barbara Sullivan, Acxiom privacy leader for Australia and New Zealand, who has been named chief privacy officer for Asia; and Acxiom consultant Sachiko Scheuing, who will be privacy leader for Europe.

Acxiom provides privacy consulting to some of the largest, most respected organizations in the world to help them with compliance strategies and to guide them in establishing best practices in privacy and security.

"Acxiom has always taken a proactive approach towards ensuring consumer privacy," said Company Leader Charles D. Morgan. "Because we do business in many countries, each with unique laws and regulations, it is critical that we have the most knowledgeable, dedicated team of global privacy leaders in place, and these appointments help to ensure that."

Barrett will be responsible for oversight of Acxiom's global public policy, privacy and information practices. In this new capacity she will provide direction for Acxiom's information use policy across all global operations, ensure internal compliance with legal regulations and industry guidelines and oversee consumer and government affairs.

"Privacy is a critical concern impacting Acxiom's delivery of technology and information products," Barrett said. "Our privacy principles guide our success around the globe each day. Our privacy leadership team is committed to the protection of consumer information by promoting policies within the industry that offer individuals the choices and protection to which they are entitled, while preserving the flow of information that provides the many conveniences consumers have come to expect."

Barrett, who has extensive knowledge of U.S. federal and state laws governing the use of information, is sought by both policy makers and regulators for her views of effective use of personal information. She is a frequent speaker on privacy and customer relationship management and has published numerous articles and participated in writing books on these subjects.

Barrett joined Acxiom in 1974, and was one of the first chief privacy officers in the U.S., having been named to the position in 1991. Since that time she has guided Acxiom's initiatives to safeguard consumer privacy.

Colclasure, who managed congressional and political affairs for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants before joining Acxiom in 1997, previously managed fair information practices and coordinated Acxiom's privacy solution offerings.

While working as Acxiom's Australia and New Zealand privacy leader, a role she assumed in 1999, Sullivan established best-practice privacy procedures, as well as assisting Acxiom clients through the introduction of privacy legislation in Australia in 2001. Sullivan joined Acxiom in 1999 to manage marketing and communications and she continues as marketing leader alongside her privacy responsibilities.

Scheuing was appointed Dutch privacy officer in 2004. During that time she helped develop and implement changes necessary to comply with Dutch law. Before the company's acquisition by Acxiom in 2004, Scheuing worked as a customer relationship management (CRM) business development manager at Claritas Netherlands.
