Aculab releases variant of GroomerII. (New Products).

Aculab, a provider of enabling technology for the communications market, recently release a 1U variant of its flexible switching engine, GroomerII. Offering up to eight ports of E1 and T1 connectivity, the new 1U variant complements Aculab's 6U model. It was developed as a cost-effective alternative for those who require all the functionality of GroomerII, but whose system capacity is unlikely to exceed eight ports. Network operators, service providers, alternative carriers and switching equipment vendors, as well as systems integrators, all need to support protocol conversion and complex call routing between a variety of otherwise incompatible network interfaces. GroomerII is a flexible switching engine that can be readily customized for a variety of such application requirements, helping to reduce costs and generate revenue. GroomerII is typically deployed between private networks/PBX/ACD switches and public networks with disparate interfaces as well as being a lower cost alternative to a bespoke PBX (Private Branch eXchange) An inhouse telephone switching system that interconnects telephone extensions to each other as well as to the outside telephone network (PSTN).  soluti on. It may also be used within a telco network; e.g., GroomerII can be deployed as new mobile switching platforms are added, or by an application service provider (ASP) to bypass the congested con·gest·ed
